    Optimising the Role and Function of Educational Assessment and Evaluation

    Sub-Themes

    Ø      Assessment can improve teaching and learning: Why are the successes so few?

    Ø        Assessment and measurement of the effectiveness of teaching and learning in an inequitable system: Is it possible?

    Ø      Assessment and the reliable measurement of competence.

    Ø      Are there shortcomings in traditional assessment that prohibit the optimisation of the role of educational assessment?

    Ø      Assessment relevant for both school exit and selection for tertiary education: achievable or not?

    Ø      The curriculum and assessment:  What is the relationship?

    Ø      Assessment and the formulation of educational policies: What are the effects?

    Ø      Assessment as a monitoring and evaluation tool  for the enhancement  of quality assurance.

    Ø      Assessment innovations and new techniques to optimise the role and function of educational assessment.

    Ø      Equitable programme evaluation: What are the necessary features for excellence and relaiability?

    Short submisions relating to any one of the above themes are welcomed for discussion on the Internet.
